Istria is a peninsular in the Adriatic Sea, with territory in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. The Croatian part is the largest part of the region, and tourism is the most important source of income. Here you will find localities such as Pula or Pola, Rozzo, Labin-Albona, Koper… among others. Istria stands out for its beaches, its cities, its hills and innumerable attractions, above all Pola, the most important city of the zone. This is an incredibly beautiful area, with valleys, mountains, vineyards, and the Adriatic which are all a feast for the eyes.
Istria is the perfect place for an alternative holiday in Croatia. Here you will find endless accommodation options, whether it be hotels, apartments, houses, cheap hostels, campsites, and in the interior region, rural tourism establishments.
Istria is situated in the North Eastern corner of Croatia, and borders Italy to the North, Slovenia to the West, and the rest of the country to the South. The principal city is Pula, or Polo, which covers an area of nearly 3000 square kilometres, and is inhabited by more than 200,000 people.
Pazin and Pula are the two most important cities of the region, and both have numerous natural spaces. This is an oasis of green in the Adriatic Sea, with pine forests and lots of vegetation…more than 1000 square kilometres are covered in greenery. On the Istria Peninsula, besides Pula and Porec, it is worth mentioning places like Vrsar, Rabac, the islands of Briuni, the Raska lagoon and the port of Krnicka luka.
There are seven main regions in this place including the interior region where we find the administrative centre Pazin. The main attraction for visitors though is the coastal region with its great beaches, many of them nudist beaches, and marinas. There are more than a dozen marinas on the Istria coastline, with more than 4000 moorings, and great possibilities for hiring a boat, or chartering a yacht, and enjoying a few days at sea exploring the area.
Hundreds of things to do, and no less number of things to sea…Istria is the ideal place for an enjoyable holiday. Among the most important places to visit in the region are Rovinj, Vrsar, Porec and Pula |
