There are six regions in Istria, all of which but one- Istria Central- are on the the Adriatic coastline. The six regions cover more than 3000 kms2, and the population is more than 200,000 people, mostly Croats, but also including other ethnic groups including Serbs, Italians, Albanians, Slovenians, Romanians.. Within these regions there are important cities and tourist destinations where you can enjoy a grat holiday on the Istria Peninsula. From North to South, the regions and their capitals offer many attractions for tourists. Places like, Pula, Porec, Vrsar, Rovinj and Medelin all have a thriving tourist industry. Other places such as Rijeka also depend on tourism, but this city also derives income from its important commercial port- the principal port of the Adriatic Sea.
There are many destinations here which offer sun, beaches, outdoor activities, boats or yachts for hire with which to visit the islands of Croatia. There is no doubt that if you choose a holiday in Croatia, on the Istria Peninsula, you will have no shortage of activities to enjoy. |
